On September 3, 2018, Ge Lingbo, head of the Pakistan PKM Expressway Project of Sinohydro Bureau 7 Co., Ltd. of PowerChina, received an emergency call from the local school named Bashir Public School in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, Pakistan which asked for emergency repair for local roads. He quickly responded and immediately mobilized personnel and equipment for road repairs, which was highly praised by the Pakistani media and residents.

It was learned that then Pakistan was in the rainy season and there were more vehicles passing through the school gate. As a result, the roads around Bashir Public School were seriously damaged, which caused much inconvenience to students going to and from the school. According to the principal of the school, since the beginning of new semester at the end of August, the late arrival rate of students had gradually increased. The poor road conditions not only increased students’ time spent on the way to school, but more seriously, they posed greater potential safety risk, especially for younger children who were more prone to fall and injury. After understanding the situation, Ge Lingbo, the person in charge of the PKM expressway project, urgently mobilized land levellers, dump truck, vibrating rollers and other equipment to repair the road. At present, the road has returned to normal, and the project department will continuously pay attention to roads conditions and provide maintenance accordingly.

This move has aroused strong reaction from the Pakistani media. Some media spoke highly of Sinohydro Bureau 7 Co., Ltd. of PowerChina, citing it as a company that truly benefits the Pakistani people. It is hoped that the friendship between China and Pakistan will last forever.
