The 2018 Chongqing International Marathon kicked off at Nanbin road on March 25 attracting 30000 runners around the world. Despite rainy weather, marathon fever swept across the “Mountain City”.Meseret Legese and Kennedy Cheboror from Kenya took the women's and men's titles respectively at the running race. Meseret finished a full marathon in 2 hours, 28 minutes and 55 seconds, and Kennedy ran a full marathon in 2 hours, 13 minutes and 43 seconds.

Located on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Chongqing is a modern and vigorous port city with 3000 years’ of history. It is famous for beautiful scenery, spicy cuisine and charming ladies. Route of the marathon passed by Nanbin Road, French Navy Barracks, coral dam airport site and other famous landmarks. Runners could experience the intertwined charm of tradition and fashion of Chongqing.
The first Chongqing Marathon was held in 2011, attracting more than 12000 participants and sprawling across over 100 cities in 11 countries and regions. This year the total number of registered participants increased to more than 70000 and eventually 30000 runners from 30 countries and regions and 528 municipalities were granted to run.
The International Marathon has substantially enhanced the unique charm of Chongqing. Ni Fei, who is Italian consul-general in Chongqing and one of the 2018 Marathon participants, expressed his heartfelt love towards the city:“The track of was very smooth with slight slopes. Thus I was quite used to run on the track just like running every day. Besides local people were very enthusiastic about the races and they cheered up all the time. So I really enjoy running it.”
