There are a group of young people from the Belt and Road countries. They are studying, traveling, working, or living in China, and therefore bound up with China. They have been witnessing the rapid change of China, sharing their own stories about China with others, and praising China for its change.

Egyptian Writer Explores the Charm of Xi'an

The protagonist of this episode is Mai Hatem Moustafa Mohamed Ashour, a professional writer and translator from Egypt. She graduated from the Chinese Department of the Cairo University, and participated in the translation and publication of many modern and contemporary Chinese novels, prose and Chinese courses. In 2016, she also translated the Arabic version of Guozhen Wang's poetry anthology Flower of Hope and it has already been published.

Egyptian youth have countless reasons to stay and fall in love with China. This May, Mai Hatem Moustafa Mohamed Ashour was invited to participate in the 'Focusing on the Origin of Silk Road, Touching the Culture of Shaanxi - 2018 China friendly Netizens from Silk Road countries in Shaanxi' sponsored by the International Communication Office of Shaanxi Provincial Committee, CPC and China Media Group CRI Online. This is her seventh visit to China and second visit to Xi'an.

During the event, Mai Hatem Moustafa Mohamed Ashour visited the Huaqing Palace in Lintong, Xi'an, and appreciated the long-awaited real-scene historical dance drama Everlasting Regret, which was created based on the famous writing Everlasting Regret in Tang Dynasty. With Everlasting Regret, Mai Hatem Moustafa Mohamed Ashour went back to Tang Dynasty and experienced its grandeur. She was moved to tears by the love stories of Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Yuhuan. She also learnt about ancient Chinese people's pursuit and desire for love as well as truth, goodness and beauty. Every time she gets access to Chinese culture, she will discover the secrets she didn't know and gain more surprise and pleasance.
