Lunar New Year Festivities Attract Tourists to Tongzhou

A series of activities under the theme of "Tongzhou: the Most Festive Spring Festival Town" have been held in Weinan City, Shaanxi Province.

They included unique celebrations at the Tongzhou Lake Scenic Spot that combined folk customs and traditional culture with science and fashion.

During the activities, the walls featuring the paintings of the eight unique folk customs in Shaanxi and the elements of the Year of the Pig became attractive for tourists of different ages to take photos, while Peggy Pigs, panda dolls and other cartoon characters popular with youngsters and children added to the Lunar New Year festivity. At Tongzhouli, a rich variety of cuisines were served to visitors while heritages that represent local traditions such as papercutting works and steamed flower buns were presented at the Intangible Heritage Cultural Creation Exhibition Zone.

To create a holiday atmosphere, the activity area had undergone a decoration, illumination and greening project ahead of the Spring Festival.

Through integrating innovation and sci-tech into scenery, food and performances, the activities aimed to present the cultural charm and innovative concepts of the Tongzhou Lake Scenic Spot, lift its image and promote its themed temple fair as well as display the fine traditional culture of Dali County and help it create a good reputation.
