In the morning of March 31, 2019 Chongqing International Marathon was officially launched. A total number of 30000 runners from over 50 countries participated in the marathon race.

Through the furious competition, Jimma Shambel Tufa from Ethiopia won the championship of men's full marathon with a time of 2:10:25, Kenyan runners Edwin Kibet Koech and Michael Njenga Kunyuga won the second and the third place separately. The champion of women's full marathon, Ethiopian runner Aberu Mekuria Zennebe, finished with a time of 2:24:30. Chinese runners Li Zhixuan and He Yinli won the second and the third place respectively.

Based on 5G technology, the marathon race this year provided runners and spectators with big data service. During the race, many spectators went to CHINA TELECOM 5G experience hall on Nanbin Street at Chongqing Nan'an District, took on the VR headsets, and had close contact with runners by '5G+VR' live broadcast technology.

As for the logistical support, aid stations can be seen every 2.5 km along the track. Volunteer emergency crew provided medical service to runners along the track. In addition, volunteers will provide guide service to runners and spectators during the race. On the same day of the marathon race, the launch ceremony of China's first Marathon special stamp was held as well.
