Over 9,000 people in Hubei make Zongzi, setting Guinness World Records

On the morning of June 3, an activity of '10,000 People Making Zongzi to Challenge Guinness World Records' was held in Zigui County, the hometown of famous ancient poet Quyuan, in Yichang City, Hubei Province.

At 8:26 a.m., a referee of Guinness World Records announced the beginning of the activity and 9, 478 people started their challenge in eight minutes under the watch of 190 supervisors. After eight minutes, the referee announced the end of the activity, and then people held their Zongzi being examined by staffs. All people cheered up with applause after hearing the success of the challenge.

About 2,000 kilograms of glutinous rice, 40,000 reed leaves, and 600 kg of orange sauce were used for the activity, resulting in more than 16,400 Zongzi.

This activity is one of major events in a series of 2019 the Dragon Boat Festival in Quyuan's hometown, which aimed to memorize the Chinese poet, Quyuan, carry forward the traditional culture and welcome the Dragon Boat Festival.
