Modern Pentathlon Test Event of the 7th CISM Military World Games Kicked off

Recently, modern pentathlon test event of the 7th CISM Military World Games and 2019 China Modern Pentathlon Championships kicked off in Wuhan, Hubei province. The six-day test event consisted of men’s and women’s fencing round-robin, individual finals, mixed relay, which attracted 63 athletes in 14 teams across the country.

In modern pentathlon, it includes fencing, swimming, equestrian and laser-run (running and shooting). The single round robin is used in the fencing event. Each match lasts for one minute and the athletes use epee with one-off game. In swimming event, with basic points in the time of 2:30, athletes win or lose points as two points of one minute in 200 meters freestyle swimming. In equestrian, riders are required to overcome 15 obstacles in 450-meter prescribed routes. The time need to depend on the condition of the competition field on that day and riders who complete the route in schedule time can win the highest 300 points. In laser-run (running and shooting), athletes need to complete four 800-meter events, including four groups laser shooting. Only when five times in each laser shooting hit the target, can athletes continue the competition. The time of shooting is limited in 50 seconds. The order of laser-run depends on the grades of the top three and the final result depends on the final grades of laser-run.
