Six overseas legal service centres to be established in Jiangsu, China

On July 31, Department of Justice of Jiangsu Province together with other departments in Jiangsu, such as Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province, held the Propulsion Convention of Overseas Legal Service Development and Signing Ceremony of the Con-construction of Overseas Legal Service Centre, planning to build six overseas legal service centres.

As a key province of open economy and a significant junction in the construction of the Belt and Road, in recent years, Jiangsu has brought in over 600 “going out” companies, involved in more than 7000 overseas investment projects.

Jiangsu has managed to build the Belt and Road Legal Service Centre in Cambodia, taken the lead in establishing the integrated platform of overseas legal service, and generated the co-construction mode of overseas legal service centre. By applying approaches of executive promoting, company setting up stage, association supporting, and lawyers involving comprehensively, Jiangsu has chosen and supported law firms within the province setting up 15 institutions for liaison to preliminary promote the construction of Jiangsu’s Belt and Road foreign-related legal service structure in three main orientations: northern line, including Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, western line, including Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates, and southern line, including Cambodia, India, Indonesia, and Myanmar.

During the signing ceremony, Department of Justice, Department of Commerce, and Federation of Industry & Commerce of Jiangsu Province, and companies such as JOCIC signed framework agreement of overseas legal service centre. In this way, more overseas legal service centres can be opened in the countries along the Belt and Road, to play a greater role in foreign-related legal service, and strive to provide a solid guarantee for Jiangsu’s enterprises to expand international market and participate in international economic cooperation.
