The Giant Jade Great Wall is officially opened to the public in Xiuyan, Liaoning Province

On October 10, the Liaoning Yutong Jade Culture Museum and the Liaoning Xiuyan Manchu Museum were officially opened to the public. Visitors from all over the country witnessed the magnificence of the giant jade carving "the Great Wall", which is known as a "treasure passed down from generation to generation" and the colorful atlas of the jade carving that shows the great unity of the Chinese nation. 

Based on the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty, the giant jade carving took a team of 35 jade carving technicians 14 months to complete. It’s carved out of a piece of Xiuyan raw jade , which weighs 118 tons. It represents the highest level of jade carving technique in China. And it also embodies the integration and development of China's long-standing jade culture and the Great Wall culture.

Liu Guoxiang, general creative planner of the giant jade carving, vice president of the Chinese Jade Culture Research Association, and researcher of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stressed that the giant jade carving on display integrates the jade culture and the Great Wall. It is of great significance in promoting the study of Xiuyan jade and Chinese jade culture and correctly guiding the development direction of Xiuyan jade culture industry. 

According to Tong Shaoqiang, vice president of the Chinese Jade Culture Research Association and director of the Liaoning Yutong Jade Culture Museum and the Liaoning Xiuyan Manchu Museum, the exhibition hall collects more than 100 pieces of jade carvings. They also provide detailed and professional introduction to the historical evolution and development of Xiuyan jade. Visitors can appreciate the exquisite jade carvings and fully feel the jade culture. 

Tong Shaoqiang said that through public displays such as the giant jade carving “The Great Wall” and the jade carving atlas of the great unity of the Chinese nation, the Xiuyan Jade Museum and Creative Cultural Museum will become a brand-new platform for promoting Xiuyan Jade, to further inherit and promote the research on Xiuyan jade and Chinese jade culture.(By Wang Lan, Wang Le)
