On Oct. 15, the 6th Silk Road International Film Festival, under the guidance of the Film Board of China, with Fujian Provincial People’s Government and Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government as the sponsors, kicked off in Fuzhou, Fujian. The film festival aims to inherit the spirit of Silk Road, spread the Silk Road culture, promote people-to-people exchange, and showcase the beauty of civilization.

The 6th Silk Road International Film Festival will build an international platform for culture exchange, cultivate film and relevant industry chains, showcase the achievements and artistic charm of Chinese film within the 70 years, and promote the culture communication among countries and regions along the Belt and Road. The film festival is consisted of six major events, the launching ceremony, award ceremony, film screening, film forum, film market, and cultural activities for citizens, as well as 95 sub-events. It focuses on more than 160 outstanding films selected from 52 countries and regions. Representatives from 25 countries including Russia, Pakistan, Thailand, Italy, Slovenia and Indonesia attended the film festival.

In recent years, Fujian has placed the film industry development in an important position within the process of the culture construction of the Belt and Road. With reform and opening up as the driving force to promote cooperation, Fujian now has over 1000 film enterprises. In addition, more than 200 films are filed, and more than 100 films go on floors every year, with 2 billion RMB at the domestic and international box office. The pattern of industrial development in Fujian is taking shape. As one of the sponsor of the Silk Road International Film Festival, Fujian will take advantage of the Belt and Road Initiative and promote the international film industry cooperation among the countries and regions alongside.
