Qingbaijiang district, Chengdu with its profound industrial heritage, has made a significant contribution to the economic development of Chengdu. Its chemical, metallurgical, building materials and machinery manufacturing industries have enjoyed great popularity. In recent years, relying on the construction of the China-Europe Railway and Chengdu International Railway Port, Qingbaijiang district has actively explored the transformation and upgrading of the old industrial base and greeted new economic growth points.

On April 26, 2013, the first Rong-Europe Express Train [hereinafter referred to as the China-Europe Railway (Chengdu)] started from the Qingbaijiang district and set up an international large-scale international freight transport route for land transportation from western China and even coastal areas to Europe, which fundamentally broke the history of western China's development of an export-oriented economy must rely on shipping ports. It has also made Qingbaijiang as the "second eye" for Chengdu to look at the world, and provided important support for the transformation and development of Qingbaijiang district. In recent years, the China-Europe Railway (Chengdu) has performed well and its traffic volume has exploded.

At present, Chengdu International Railway Port has built 12 international railway and rail-sea combined transport corridors, linking 26 overseas cities and 15 domestic cities, building Chengdu as a hub, west to the hinterland of Europe, south to Unicom ASEAN, east to Japan, South Korea, the America, and the north to international train route system that radiates the China-Mongolia Economic Corridor. It makes the Qingbaijiang district closely connected with Eurasian countries.

In April 2017, China's only China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, which was established on the basis of railway ports, came into being, making the Qingbaijiang district as an important part of the national test field.
