“It’s of great significance to hold the interview activity in the run-up to the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China,” said Workers Union Chairman Wang Guowei of the Xianyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone during an interview with CRI Online Shaanxi Channel.“Shaanxi has rich resources on traditional culture, red culture and advanced socialist culture. How to better preserve and utilize these cultures is a mission and task for us at the moment. The high-tech industrial development zone will carry forward the spirit of passing the flame and build new high grounds of innovation,” he added.

Construction and development of high-tech industrial development zones is a key part of the national Torch Program. The Xianyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, situated in the west of the city’s downtown, was upgraded to the national level in 2012. It’s expected to shoulder national missions, inherit genes for innovation from former generations and hold high the torch of scientific and technological innovation.

Currently, electronic display, biomedicine and medical appliances as well as synthetic materials have taken shape as the three pillar industries of the development zone that has attracted many well-known enterprises from home and abroad. It’s now aiming to build an industrial cluster consisting of a 100 billion yuan electronic display industry, a 50 billion yuan medical industry and a 30 billion yuan new materials industry.
