40 years ago, the "First villagers' committees" in China had been elected from 85 farmers at Hezhai Village, Pingnan Town, Yizhou District, Hechi city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Villager's self-governance has made people life on the right track in Hezhai, and the public security environment has greatly improved. As of now, all villages in Hezhai have completed the construction of cement roads, water and electricity. More than 95% of farmers have lived in brick-concrete buildings, closed-circuit televisions have been installed, and 3 cultural activity centers have been completely built. In 2019, villager's per capita disposable income reached 11,200 yuan, and their senses of happiness have been rising substantially.

In addition, with the development of silkworm and sugar cane as the pillar industries, the masses also are guided to cultivate distinctive plant and breed industry and develop rural tourism industry in Hezhai village, so as to bring villagers better life.
