Agritourism in Longtan Canyon of Huludao Brings Over Five Million Yuan Annually to Local Businesses

Right here, the farmhouses of idyllic beauty boast lush vegetation and the dishes may be the local dry Tofu, mushrooms, hazelnuts and gourd rolls... In the scenic area of Longtan Canyon, Jianchang County, Huludao City of Liaoning, tourists will be impressed by the creation of nature in the state-level geological park. They can also live in the comfortable countryside inns around, get close to nature and enjoy every moment of tranquility.

Recently, a series of activities themed on "Striving for One Hundred Years, Starting the New Journey" were organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Huludao Municipal Committee to highlight the high-quality development of cultural tourism in Huludao. Echoing the theme, the media paid a visit to the National Geological Park of Longtan Canyon. In recent years, the renowned Longtan Canyon has attracted a large number of agritourists, and the inns and restaurants showcasing the tranquility and simplicity of the countryside have become another card for local tourism.

The National Geological Park of Longtan Canyon in Jianchang County sits on the edge of the cities of Liaoxi Corridor and the seaside tourism area. As a Karst subterranean canyon that is rarely seen in Northeast China, Longtan Canyon is recognized as the miniature of Tibet in the north, and it is popular among the tourists from Liaoning and Hebei provinces.

The development of the scenic area has brought new business opportunities for residents around. They have built restaurants and inns catering to the needs of agritourists. The roads connecting the scenic area with Jiazhangzi Village and Wuzhangzi Village extend for more than 10 kilometers. The road hardening project already accomplished has further facilitated the local agritourism. Besides, overall 26 stall clustering areas have been established to support targeted poverty alleviation. The booths are offered to the residents around free of charge for selling a great many agricultural and sideline products, including millet, dry Tofu, mushrooms, hazelnuts and gourd rolls, in order to help increase the income of those in need.

So far, the area around Longtan Canyon has witnessed the emergence of over 30 restaurants and inns serving agritourists. It brings an annual revenue of over five million yuan, and over 600 jobs to the local farmers.
