During the Dragon Boat Festival this year, Liaoning's cultural and tourism market witnessed smooth development, and the whole province received a total of 7,457,000 visits. Statistics have shown that "red tourism" scenic areas were favored by people taking group tours while natural scenic spots for ecotourism were among the most popular places to get close to nature.

Liaoning Province is rich in "red tourism" resources. Recently, Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has elaborately designed a series of "red tourism" routes themed on "Reliving the Red Past, Fighting for Glory", "The Pillars of a Great Power Tells the Strength of China" and "Visiting Beautiful Rural Areas and Helping with Their Revitalization". The routes covered hundreds of major sites of revolutionary cultural relics and memorial venues. During the Dragon Boat Festival, "red tourism" scenic areas witnessed a continuous flow of people taking group tours.

In addition, some natural scenic spots for ecotourism in Liaoning Province became the first choices for tourists to get close to nature. Dalian's gardens for picking big cherries ushered in the first peak of cherry picking with an endless flow of tourists. Fushun held a variety of well-received cultural and tourism activities, including the picking activity of Lvmeijia Garden in Shuncheng District, Mountain Climbing Festival in Gao'ershan scenic area, and dragon boat races. Lujiang Village, Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County in Dandong with a vast sea of rape flowers, Dalu Island of Dagushan Township, Donggang City, Fenghuang Mountain of Fengcheng City and other scenic spots were the best places to beat the heat and enjoy the vacation.

Big data have shown that parent-child tourism and self-driving tourism accounted for 75% of the provincial travel during the Dragon Boat Festival. Theme parks represented by Shenyang Fantawild Adventure, Shenyang Botanical Garden and Dalian Discoveryland attracted a large number of kids and parents.

Notably, the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival this year was also Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. Some parents grasped this opportunity to participate in immersive tourism activities of dragon-boat rowing, making sachets and Zongzi as well as learning about intangible cultural heritage together with their children.
