A Group of People Show Their Persistence and Love in Dalian Amidst the Pandemic

Currently, Dalian is plagued by a new wave of COVID-19 infections. In the joint fight against the pandemic throughout the city, everyone is trying their best to protect Dalian, be they frontline medical staff, police, and volunteers, or citizens who are vigorously supporting the frontline work and following COVID-19 safety measures.

Yu Dongshi from Dalian Water Supply Group has been providing logistic support in Zhuanghe University Town. Every day, he would walk up and down the stairs for more than 30 times to provide life necessities including three meals a day and drinking water for university students, clean up household waste, and disinfect the buildings.

After COVID-19 hit the city, Liu Zhixue and his wife Wang Chunhui, residents of Meili Neighborhood, Xinzhaizi Subdistrict, Ganjingzi District, offered to work on the frontline of nucleic acid testing. Wang is responsible for maintaining the order, and Liu leads a ten-person team for the scanning of health QR codes and nucleic acid testing. They show their selflessness by providing voluntary services, and try their best to ensure the safety and health of the people.

In the meantime, nearly 3000 young volunteers have answered the call of Dalian Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, and devoted themselves to offline voluntary services such as order maintenance, sanitation and disinfection, and supply transfer in neighborhoods and communities. Moreover, they have formed voluntary service teams of psychological counseling which offer 24-hour online psychological counseling, and voluntary service teams of one-on-one academic counseling, accompanying students during their online studies. In total, they have offered online and offline voluntary services for over 45,000 hours.
