Long-Standing Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing

Dazu Rock Carvings include all stone carving artworks in Dazu District, Chongqing, China. Dazu District is dotted with cliff statues. Over 75 of them are listed as cultural relic protection units at different levels. There are altogether over 50,000 statues of carvings with more than 100,000 words in inscriptions. Dazu is thus known as the hometown of stone carvings.

Dazu Rock Carvings, established more than a thousand years ago, feature a long-standing history. In December 1999, the Dazu Rock Carvings, represented by the "Five Mountains" of Baoding, Beishan, Nanshan，Shimen and Shizhuan Mountain were inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO, and are now a national 4A-level tourist attraction in China.
