UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee Holds Online Workshop

The Workshop on Culture and Tourism Development of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Tourism Committee was held virtually on March 23 with Xi'an in Shaanxi Province as an offline sub-venue.

Held under the theme of "Tourism makes contribution to the harmonious development exchange and mutual learning among cities and regions.", the event included in-depth discussions over cultural tourism-related exchange and cooperation within the UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee and the innovative development paths of the organization. The topics discussed were aimed at injecting confidence and hope into the recovery and reshaping of the global tourism industry.

During the meeting, representatives from UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee member cities, international organizations and cultural tourism enterprises gave keynote speeches. The participants introduced measures and shared experiences in carrying out international exchange and cooperation on cultural tourism amid normalized pandemic prevention and control. They also discussed innovative development modes of the sector.

Xi'an has strived in recent years to explore the charms of the local culture and promote the unique characteristics of the city, leading to the boom of tourism and making it a representative of China's new first tier cities and a popular tourist destination in the world.

The workshop is expected to lay a foundation for Xi'an and other UCLG member cities to work together in the future in exploring paths for the innovative development of the cultural tourism industry amid normalized pandemic prevention and control and promoting global exchange and cooperation regarding cultural tourism to a new height.
