Since 1990s, the stone industry has become a pillar industry to Zhongshan Township as abundant quarries were discovered there, including premium Zhongshan Snow Black, Black Sesame, and Shixia Black. Stone enterprises sprang up and contributed a lot to the local finance. In recent years, with environmental governance as an instrumentality, Zhongshan Township fully advanced the rectification of the stone industry. In 2021, a total of 51 stone enterprises were closed down, taking back 120 mu of land for reclamation. Besides, seven quarry mining sites were revoked, and one quarry mining site was standardized.

Stone factories now become well-organized fertile farmland. Meanwhile, the Stones and Stone Carving SME Industrial Park is under vigorous construction. Taking advantage of this park, Zhongshan Township will further strengthen the regulation over stone enterprises, increase their profits and achieve green transformation and upgrade.

At present, one county-level river, seven town-level rivers, six town-level reservoirs are distributed in Zhongshan Township. The water quality there maintains at Class II and above throughout the year. All rivers, reservoirs and small ad tiny waters are included in the cleaning range. Long-effect patrol, regulation, and cleaning mechanism have been established.
