The Pioneering Liangshan Port Makes Enormous Strides in Reform and Innovation

Liangshan Port presents an impressive scorecard along the banks of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. In Liangshan County, Jining, Shandong Province, the Watang-Rizhao Railway, an important channel for coal transportation from China's western to its eastern part, meets the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, a vital waterway for coal transportation from northern to southern China.

Liangshan Port opened officially on April 9, 2021. Relying on the H-shaped grand channel of "Watang-Rizhao Railway-Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal-Yangtze River", Liangshan Port has realized the multi-modal transportation combining roads, railways, waterways and containers, ensuring the availability of the resources from the energy-producing areas and the supply of them to other areas in need, and making the "North-to-south Coal Diversion" faster and more convenient.

On May 1, 2022, 23 containers carrying 600 tons of refined coal from Shenmu, Shaanxi Province were shipped to Ningbo, Zhejiang through the container terminal of Liangshan Port, marking that Liangshan Port has realized a new mode of container and waterway transportation of refined coal, This achievement has not only highlighted the advantages of Liangshan Port's multi-modal transportation combining roads, railways and waterways but also achieved the social logistics effect of "1+1+1 > 3".

The opening of Liangshan Port has made the Watang-Rizhao Railway, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the "Belt and Road" Initiative integrate well with each other, forming a true "big golden channel" that promotes social logistics which in turn brings big opportunities and, consequentially, robust development.

Since its opening more than a year ago, Liangshan Port has witnessed rapid growth in its cargo throughput and sales volume. Liangshan Port has become an inland river shipping port in Shandong Province with increasing fame, and a large shipping and supply distribution center for "West-to-east Coal Diversion", "North-to-south Coal Diversion", "South-to-north Cargo Transfer" and container transport on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It has creatively presented the "golden coordinate" along the Watang-Rizhao Railway and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
