Inbound Mail Tax Information Networking Project Launched in Taiyuan

An international mail agency customs declaration system was launched at the Taiyuan International Mail Processing Center in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on Sept 9.

A recipient of the first inbound item that day paid CNY 185.46 ($26.63) in taxes through Alipay, a popular Chinese mobile payment platform, marking the implementation of the city's inbound mail tax information networking project.

The project was jointly promoted by the State Post Bureau, the General Administration of Customs and China Post Group Corp.

According to the Shanxi branch of China Post Group Corp, the system will turn over tax information to the State treasury upon the completion of tax payments by people through mobile phone applications, such as "EMS International Mail Agency Customs Declaration" and "Mobile Customs", and issue release orders intermittently 24 hours a day.

The move has eliminated the previous low-efficiency manual reconciliation and summarization system for inbound mail tax payments, and allowed for the electronic reconciliation of customs postage and automatic remittance of taxes on T+0 day, making operation and management more convenient.

The inbound mail tax information networking project will further optimize the work process of customs and postal departments for tax collection and the release of international mails, and improve customs clearance efficiency and services.
