Belt and Road Countries (Regions) Economic and Trade Cooperation Round-table Conference Held in Xi'an

On November 16, the Belt and Road Countries (Regions) Economic and Trade Cooperation Round-table Conference was held in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, China. With the theme of "Sharing Opportunities of Silk Road and Working Together for Win-win Outcomes", six guests from the embassies, consulates and commercial representative offices of the Belt and Road countries in China, as well as representatives from key industrial parks in Shaanxi Province and key Chinese and foreign enterprises, had discussions and exchanges on sharing the dividends and development opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) while striving to achieve high-standard, sustainable and people-centered cooperation. Cooperation concepts and suggestions were put forward as well during the conference.

As the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, Shaanxi is the frontier of China's westward opening-up and the new hub of inland reform and opening-up. In recent years, Shaanxi has been exploring the diversified markets of Belt and Road countries based on multi-dimensional international trade channels, building overseas warehouses in Belt and Road countries (regions), and continuously broadening the "circle of friends" for opening-up. Remarkable achievements have been made in foreign economic and trade cooperation.

The trade and investment exchanges between Shaanxi and the Belt and Road countries (regions) have been deepening. From January to September this year, the total import and export volume reached CNY 153.822 billion, with an increase of 10.2 percent and 2.1 times in trade with the ASEAN and Central Asia regions respectively; the FDI inflow, in actual use, expanded by 14.18 times to USD 195 million; and the turnover of foreign contracted projects was USD 840 million, accounting for nearly 80 percent of the total in the same period.

"Azerbaijani food and beverages have huge potential in the Chinese market, and the Azerbaijani Brand Exhibition Hall will have its opening ceremony in Xi'an during this year's Silk Road International Exposition (SRIE)," said Teymur Nadiroghlu, Commercial Representative and the Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Commercial Representative Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in China.
