Engaging with the World, Meishan Cuisine Goes International

The 14th China Pickled Food International Expo 2024 will be held from March 16 to March 18 in Meishan City, Sichuan Province.

This expo will feature five specialized exhibition halls: the "Belt and Road" International Pavilion, Pre-cooked Food Pavilion, Pickled Food Pavilion, County Specialty Pavilion, and Technology Manufacturing Pavilion, along with the Dongpo Gourmet Culture Festival Market. The total area is approximately 30,000 square meters, with an expected attendance of over 800 domestic and international participants and exhibitors and 300 participating businesses.

Currently, Meishan City has a pickled vegetable raw material base of 400,000 mu, with over 50 pickled vegetable enterprises. It has nurtured four national-level agricultural industrialization leading enterprises and 12 provincial-level leading enterprises. In 2023, Meishan's pickled vegetable sales revenue exceeded 22 billion yuan, occupying half of Sichuan Province's market share, establishing a development pattern of "China’s pickled vegetables are mostly from Sichuan, and Sichuan pickled vegetables are mostly from Meishan." The "small pickled vegetable" has grown into a "large industry."

In recent years, the influence of the China Pickled Food International Expo has gradually expanded, revitalizing Dongpo cuisine. Starting with pickled vegetables, Dongpo District has developed a food industry cluster focusing on pickled vegetables and pre-cooked food, covering catering, grain and oil, condiments, candies and pastries, dairy products, livestock products, tea, and other food industries. The products are exported to many countries and regions.
