On the morning of August 9, the First International Intangible Cultural Heritage Week raised its curtain in Weinan, Shaanxi Province.
With the theme of "Passing down Intangible Cultural Heritage for a Better Life", the event included 26 domestic and international exhibition booths of intangible cultural heritage (ICH). It will run from August 9 to August 11. At the opening ceremony, awards were presented to the winners of the First Intangible Cultural Heritage Creative Competition, and international ICH explainers were certified on the spot.
During the event, Weinan City will hold a series of themed activities, such as the International Dialogue of Intangible Cultural Heritage Cities, "International Dialogue: The Origin of Culture and the Spirit of Craftsmanship", and ICH experiences. Representatives of ICH cities at home and abroad, ICH inheritors, experts and scholars, enterprise representatives, and foreign students in China will be invited to carry out interaction and exchanges online and offline.
At present, Weinan boasts one item on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, 17 national representative ICH projects, 112 provincial ones and 311 municipal ones. There are 17 national representative ICH inheritors, 118 provincial ones and 643 municipal ones. Both the numbers of national ICH projects and representative inheritors rank first in Shaanxi Province.
Weinan City has established friendly relations with 16 cities of 15 countries. The successful launch of the First International Intangible Cultural Heritage Week aims to fully leverage the leading role of the the associations for friendship with foreign countries in promoting people-to-people diplomacy, vigorously build a platform for foreign exchanges and cooperation, and continuously deepen the exchanges between Shaanxi and the rest of the world.
