Recently, State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Company comprehensively launched its annual first inspection on ±800 kV Shaanxi-Wuhan DC. This is the first annual overhaul of the project since it was put into operation in August 2021, and also the first overhaul of ±800 kV UHV converter station carried out by State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Company.

During the 13-day annual inspection, the main equipment of the northern Shaanxi converter station will undergo a comprehensive inspection and overhaul, covering 83 base towers and 155 bodies of Shaanxi-Wuhan DC transmission line in Shaanxi Province.

The annual inspection is marked by the largest work plane, the most maintenance items, and the largest number of personnel in the inspection history of Shaanxi Power Grid. As the main responsible unit of the overhaul project, State Grid Shaanxi UHV Company organizes and cooperates with 45 inspection units to fight hard and firmly set up the "three lines of safety defense" of operation, quality and epidemic prevention.

With a total length of about 1,128 kilometers, the ±800 kV Shaanxi-Wuhan DC project starts from the northern Shaanxi converter station in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province and ends at Wuhan converter station in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. The annual power supply reaches 40 billion kWh, which can replace 18 million tons of coal and reduce 29.6 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, contributing to the realization of China's "dual carbon" goals.

After the annual inspection, the level of ±800 kV Shaanxi-Wuhan DC transmission and transformation equipment will be comprehensively improved, and the operation safety of Shaanxi-Central China DC system and the power supply reliability of Shaanxi Power Grid will be further enhanced, so as to provide a solid guarantee for the safe, reliable and green electricity consumption in Central China this winter.
