On the morning of April 16, the 2023 Wuhan Marathon started. 26,000 runners from 32 countries and regions experienced the "Hero City" with their footsteps.

Themed "The Return of Heroes", the 2023 Wuhan Marathon consists of three categories of competitions, namely the full marathon (42.195 kilometers), the half marathon (21.0975 kilometers), and the 13-kilometer race.

After more than two hours of intense competition, Chinese runners won the top three in the 2023 Wuhan Marathon Men's Full Marathon. He Jie won the championship of the 2023 Wuhan Marathon Men's Full Marathon with a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 35 seconds. Yang Shaohui won the runner-up with a time of two hours, 12 minutes and 37 seconds. The third place was won by Dong Guojian with a time of two hours, 12 minutes and 55 seconds.

In the women's full marathon, Luck Karimi from Kenya took the lead and won the championship with a time of two hours, 27 minutes and 47 seconds. Tinbit Gidey Weldegebriel from Ethiopia won the runner-up with a time of 2 hours, 34 minutes and 08 seconds. Chinese player Yang Hua won the third place with a time of two hours, 37 minutes and 19 seconds.

In the half marathon, Cao Huan from Daye, Hubei won the men's championship in one hour, 10 minutes and 15 seconds, and the women's championship was won by Wang Qiaoxia from Shanxi, with a score of one hour, 20 minutes and 17 seconds.

Jiangsu runner Yang Zhaoning won the 13-kilometer healthy run championship with a time of 51 minutes. Among the female runners, Shu Sanling was the first to reach the finish line of the 13-kilometer healthy run.
