Xianning, Hubei: Tailored Power Supply "Package" Safeguards Rural Revitalization

On March 26, a boundless expanse of golden rapeseed flowers blanketed the Weiyuan Lake area of Xiangyang Lake Town in Xian’an District, Xianning City, Hubei Province. Spanning 8,600 mu(about 1416 acres), these vibrant fields drew visitors from Xianning and surrounding areas, who strolled through the floral sea with cameras in hand, soaking up the beauty of springtime.

In recent years, Xianning has vigorously promoted the transformation of basic farmlands. Xiangyang Lake Weiyuan, once famously known as a "land of fish and rice," took a proactive step: returning lake areas back to fertile fields. Ponds were methodically filled in, and fishermen embraced new opportunities ashore, shifting from aquaculture to farming crops. This bold move has paved the way for sustainable development and prosperity.

Chen Yingchao, resident of Yutan Village in Xiangyang Lake, explained, "This year, our family transformed 20 mu(about 3 acres) of ponds to farmlands. Once the rapeseed is harvested in April, we'll be able to use machinery to plant grain. In a good year, we anticipate two rice harvests annually. Furthermore, during the agricultural off-season, I can supplement our income with outside work, resulting in a better overall financial picture than we had fish farming alone."

“The Pengjiazu Pumping Station has safeguarded the villagers' purses. What we need to do is go all out to ensure the safety of the pumping station's power supply," stated Zhou Cheng, head of the Xiangyang Lake Power Supply Station of the State Grid Xian'an District Power Supply Company of Xianning City.

State Grid Xian'an District Power Supply Company of Xianning City has developed a series of "power security packages" for the Pengjiazu Pumping Station. This robust plan includes organizing four-person teams to check everything weekly from generator units and transformers to the 11km dedicated power line. They're also proactively upgrading and rectifying any weaknesses in the station's power lines, and pushing forward with improvements to the backup power system. These combined efforts enhance the security of the pumping station's power supply, foster a better  local business environment, and strongly support rural revitalization.
