Meiling Ecotourism Resort in Nanchang is a national-level tourism destination and the only mountainous area within the city proper. It features beautiful landscapes and diverse ecology, and serves as a natural oxygen bar and urban green lung. Suitable for year-round vacations, it has long been known as Nanchang’s “leisure vacation backyard.”
The Meiling Cloud Peak Cable Car is a key project under Nanchang’s “Embracing Mountains into the City, Integrating Urban and Scenic Areas” development strategy. It spans 5,580 meters with an elevation difference of 710 meters, is supported by 30 towers, and has a one-way capacity of 1,500 passengers per hour, with a single trip taking approximately 18 minutes. Once completed, it will link the Meiling Scenic Area with urban districts, serving as a comprehensive tourism facility that integrates sightseeing, transportation, and emergency rescue functions.
State Grid Nanchang Power Supply Company served as the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor for the cable car’s power supply project. The company assembled an elite project team and implemented strict safety and quality control in accordance with national excellence standards. After more than nine months of overcoming construction challenges, the entire cable line was successfully electrified in May 2025.
This strong electrical backbone accelerates the integrated development of “mountain scenic areas + urban blocks.” Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Meiling's lush mountains and the cityscape of Nanchang from the cable car, supporting Nanchang’s ambition to become an all-in-one fashionable lifestyle destination and further enhancing the city’s ecological tourism brand.(By Xiong Liangliang)
