June marks China’s 24th National “Work Safety Month.” Cultivating safety awareness should begin in childhood. Whether at home, at school, or in everyday life, helping children build awareness of electrical safety and understand the basics of power equipment is like lighting a beacon along their journey of growth.
Children participate in electrical safety education activities at the State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company’s Energy Big Data Center
On May 20, State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company invited children from Taishun County Yucai Kindergarten and first-grade elementary students, along with their parents, to visit the company for a safety education event. During the event, young volunteers guided the children through an engaging journey into electrical knowledge using lively, age-appropriate language. From “the mystery of how electricity is generated” to “electricity’s role in everyday life”; from “the many uses of electricity” to “safety precautions, danger signs,” and “how to respond to electric shock,” the volunteers patiently answered the children’s curious questions with accessible explanations.
Children learn about the role of aerial work platforms in power maintenance under staff guidance
In the aerial work platform experience area, professionals explained how these vehicles serve as “sky guardians” during power maintenance operations. Children put on safety gear and took turns boarding the vehicles.
Children observe drone operation as instructors explain
“How do drones detect problems on power lines?” the children asked with curiosity. Staff members patiently answered their questions, vividly describing the role of drones as “aerial scouts” in power line inspections — highlighting how they quickly locate faults and precisely identify hazards. At the end of the event, children used colored pens to express their hopes for the future.
