On May 26th, in anticipation of the upcoming traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival and to promote cross-cultural exchange, State Grid Huanggang Power Supply Company hosted the “Ink and Embroidery” cultural exchange event. The event invited foreign teachers from Yifeng Forest International Kindergarten to experience the unique charm of this traditional Chinese festival.
During the event, volunteers from State Grid Huanggang Power Supply Company served as cultural envoys. They guided the foreign teachers to a specially arranged calligraphy area, where they introduced stories of the Duanwu Festival from renowned ancient Chinese calligraphers. They also demonstrated how to properly hold the brush and apply basic brushstroke techniques, helping the foreign guests write simple Chinese characters.

The volunteers also organized an embroidery exhibit for the foreign teachers, explaining the long history of embroidery in China—from Han Dynasty styles such as Xinqi Embroidery and Changshou Embroidery to the now-renowned “Four Famous Embroideries” (Su, Xiang, Yue, and Shu). They also introduced the custom of making embroidered sachets during the Dragon Boat Festival.
“This is my first time experiencing Chinese calligraphy and embroidery, and it's absolutely fascinating!” exclaimed Nosi, a foreign teacher from South Africa.
The event not only allowed the foreign teachers to appreciate the richness of Chinese cultural heritage but also built a bridge for cultural exchange, adding a meaningful and unique touch to the Dragon Boat Festival.
A representative of the State Grid Huanggang Power Supply Company volunteers stated that they will continue to host diverse cultural exchange activities in the future, actively fulfilling their social responsibilities, telling China’s story effectively, and helping international audiences experience the unique charm of Chinese culture—thus contributing to a new chapter in cultural integration.
