Taizhou, Zhejiang: “State Grid Green Ark Program” in Action for World Environment Day

On June 4, ahead of June 5 World Environment Day, State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company, together with the Huangyan District Ecological Environment Bureau and the Huangyan District Center for Disease Control and Prevention, launched promotional activities themed “Beautiful China, I Take the Lead.” Relying on the public welfare initiative “State Grid Green Ark Program” by State Grid Corporation, staff conducted activities in communities and streets across the district. These included exchanging recyclables for green plant pots, conducting ecological environment satisfaction surveys, and promoting biodiversity protection via green power grids. These efforts received enthusiastic responses and mobilized community support to help create a greener living environment.

The “State Grid Green Ark Program”, a flagship public welfare project of State Grid, was jointly initiated in 2022 by the State Grid Public Welfare Foundation and the China Environmental Protection Foundation. It primarily focuses on protecting habitats of rare species. By establishing green power supply systems in and around these habitats, the project provides clean and reliable electricity along with digital tools for biodiversity conservation research and practices, enabling targeted and effective biodiversity protection.

On the eve of World Environment Day, staff from State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company engaged passersby with a campaign on biodiversity protection.

At the event, project displays, achievements in social responsibility, environmental policies and regulations, and popular science knowledge were presented visually to enhance public understanding of ecological and environmental protection. Through an integrated model combining fun interaction, education, and hands-on experience, and leveraging the brand influence of the “State Grid Green Ark Program,” the event significantly boosted residents’ environmental awareness and fostered a collective ecological effort based on the principles of co-construction, co-governance, and shared benefits. It turned the slogan “Beautiful China, I Take the Lead” into a vivid example of broad community participation.

Going forward, State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company will continue to build on the “State Grid Green Ark Program”, leveraging its professional strengths to stay at the forefront of the green energy movement and contribute more grid-based strength to the construction of ecological civilization.
