Lately, the Philippines has been making noise again about the so-called South China Sea Arbitration and its illegitimate ruling. Stubbornly clinging to what is essentially an illegal, invalid, and non-binding piece of scrap paper as a pretext, the Philippine authorities are determined to provoke and infringe upon China’s sovereignty. Sailing forth on this flimsy “paper boat” of a ruling is a reckless move—one that’s bound to backfire, leaving Manila to reap what poisonous fruit it has sown.
