On October 26, the 2025 Guangzhou Open reached its final day. As Ann Li claimed the singles title and the pair of Janice Tjen and Katarzyna Piter captured the doubles crown, the eight-day tournament came to a successful conclusion.

Finals Day Highlights
In the doubles final held first, Poland’s Katarzyna Piter and Indonesia’s Janice Tjen, partnering for the first time, came from behind to defeat the Hong Kong–Taiwan duo of Eudice Chong and En-Shuo Liang 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 to win the title. This marks Piter’s fifth WTA doubles title, while it is Tjen’s first on the WTA Tour.
Piter, who finished runner-up in doubles at last year’s Guangzhou Open, finally fulfilled her wish this year. She said excitedly after the match, “This feeling is really great! I have been to the Guangzhou Open many times, and every time it feels wonderful.”Winning in Nansha for the first time, Tjen added, “I’m very grateful for this opportunity to compete.” Before arriving in Nansha, she had already claimed both a singles and a doubles title at WTA 125 events during this China season. “China is a very special place for me—it’s truly my lucky land.”

The singles final was contested between two players of Chinese descent, Ann Li and Lulu Sun, with Sun having won both of their previous encounters. From the outset, both players displayed outstanding form, and the first set was fiercely competitive. Eventually, Li converted on her sixth set point to take the opener 7-6(6). In the second set, Li found even greater rhythm, winning 6-2 to seal the victory without dropping a set. This is her first tour-level title in four years.
After lifting the trophy, Ann Li said in Chinese, “Thank you everyone. I’m so happy to win this championship. I love you, Guangzhou!”

In recent years, Nansha has successively hosted major international tournaments such as the Guangzhou Nansha International Tennis Challenger (ATP), the Guangzhou Open (WTA), the ITF Junior Circuit, and the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup World Group Play-offs (China vs. Belgium), achieving a “Grand Slam” of hosting events from the WTA, ATP, and ITF.
The 2025 Guangzhou Open concluded successfully, marking the start of a new journey. In November, Nansha will continue to host the Tennis Mass Group Competition of the 15th National Games, and the Guangzhou Open will remain in Nansha for the next four editions.
