Nanyang, Henan: Powering a Bountiful Wheat Harvest

As wheat enters its crucial heading and grain-filling stage from late spring to early summer, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company (“the Company”) is ensuring a robust power supply to support a bountiful harvest. The Company has implemented a multi-pronged approach to bolster agricultural power infrastructure, meticulously catering to the specific needs of local farmers.

Proactive teams from the Company have been dispatched to fields across the region to conduct special inspections of 10-kilovolt and higher-voltage lines essential for irrigation. Focusing on transformer performance, potential overheating at connection points, and equipment insulation, these inspections have already rectified seven defects and cleared 117 trees that posed risks to power lines. By leveraging historical load data, the Company dynamically optimizes grid operations and allocates power resources efficiently, establishing a dedicated “green channel” to prioritize agricultural power demands.

To directly address farmers’ power needs, the Company has formed eight agricultural support teams. These teams proactively engaged with townships and agricultural cooperatives to assess irrigation power requirements in advance, offer on-site guidance on the safe operation of pumping equipment, and distribute over 1,200 safety manuals. For remote areas facing difficulties accessing the grid, the Company has streamlined the power application process with one-stop service, ensuring farmers can access electricity promptly.

Throughout the irrigation season, the Company maintains a 24-hour emergency response mechanism, with repair vehicles and supplies on standby around the clock. By utilizing its power service command platform to monitor line loads in real time, it enables rapid response to any outages. To date, it has efficiently completed five irrigation-related emergency repairs, ensuring uninterrupted power supply with all reported issues resolved on the same day.
