The U.S. government has recently launched a jaw-dropping fundraising initiative of encouraging citizens to make donations to the federal government via Venmo while paying for their meals, in the name of its “Gifts to Reduce the Public Debt” program.Despite its extravagant spending, Washington painstakingly drums up the dangers of national debt, while ignoring average Americans’ rising living costs and growing job insecurity. Now, it expects ordinary people to plug the debt hole created by its own reckless spending. This "begging-the-people" approach to solving a crisis of its own making is indeed inventively bizarre.
