State Grid Suizhou Power Supply Company’s Innovative Project Wins Champion Award at 2025 “Golden Key · State Grid” Competition

Recently, the winners of the 2025 "Golden Key · State Grid Themed Competition" were announced in Beijing. Co-hosted by the State Grid Corporation of China and the Sustainable Development Economics Herald, the competition saw the innovative project by State Grid Suizhou Power Supply Company, titled Following the "Green" Path, Embracing "New" Changes: The Implementation of the World's First County-Level New-Type Power System Demonstration Zone, stand out in the "Contributing to Climate Action" category and win the Champion Award.

The competition centered on two themes: “Contributing to Climate Action” and “Participating in Social Governance.” It attracted 312 project submissions, 70 of which were selected for the roadshow presentation. Five projects were ultimately honored with the “Golden Key · Champion of the Year” award.

This award-winning project addresses key challenges in power grids with a high penetration of renewable energy — such as low inertia, weak stability, and difficulties in energy absorption. By leveraging the abundant wind and solar resources in Guangshui District, Suizhou City, Hubei Province, the project has established a 100-megawatt, 100% renewable new-type power system. The demonstration zone is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 128,800 tons annually, significantly advancing local energy structure optimization and green transition. It also provides a replicable and scalable technical model — a “Chinese solution” — for achieving the “dual carbon” goals at the county level.

Moving forward, the company will continue to align its efforts with the “dual carbon” objectives, further innovate in new energy technologies, inject more green momentum into the high-quality development of the power grid, and contribute to the global transition toward clean and low-carbon energy.
