On June 6, the Pengxing 220 kV Substation was officially commissioned following the successful first-time energization of its No. 2 main transformer. This marks the first project in the Xiaogan Power Grid to be put into operation ahead of this year's summer peak load period.

Located in Pengxing Township, Xiaonan District, Xiaogan, the Pengxing 220 kV power transmission and transformation project broke ground in November 2024. As a critical supporting facility for the outward transmission of wind power from China Resources' Yingcheng wind project, the substation establishes a direct corridor to deliver green electricity into urban Xiaogan. The facility will benefit more than 30 key enterprises, including Hubei Dayu and Hanguang Electric, as well as 50,000 nearby residents.
Since the project's inception, construction teams have raced against the clock and worked diligently to accelerate progress, driving the construction of the substation steadily forward. By integrating six types of mechanical equipment into a seamless mechanized line-stringing system, the team reduced the construction timeline by three months and cut risks associated with high-altitude work by over 80%. The project achieved 100% mechanized construction coverage while maintaining a 100% quality pass rate.
To ensure long-term stability, every stage of the project underwent rigorous verification prior to commissioning. Comprehensive electrical testing—including current transformer characteristic tests and circuit breaker mechanical characteristic tests—was completed sequentially alongside the debugging and interface alignment of more than 30 secondary panels. Following over 100 hours of meticulous verification spanning several days, all phase sequences were confirmed to meet technical standards, establishing a solid safety foundation for the successful launch.
