  Mexico's Foreign Secretary, Roberto Velasco Álvarez, recently announced that the Mexican government plans to request a criminal investigation by U.S. judicial authorities into the deaths of Mexican nationals linked to incidents involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Speaking at a press conference on the 9th, Álvarez stated that, to date, 17 Mexican citizens have lost their lives in ICE-related incidents. Of those, 14 died during immigration detention, while three others were killed during ICE enforcement operations.
