The Japan Public Opinion Research Association recently released the results of a public opinion poll showing that 76% of respondents support continuing to adhere to the “Three Non-Nuclear Principles” that Japan “shall neither possess nor manufacture nuclear weapons, nor shall it permit their introduction into Japanese territory. Meanwhile, 77% of respondents oppose Japan's participating in “nuclear sharing,” i.e. the deployment of U.S. nuclear weapons in Japan and their joint operation by the two countries. However, the Sanae Takaichi government has repeatedly attempted to break through the “Three Non-Nuclear Principles” despite public opposition, dragging Japan toward a dangerous abyss.
