From October 17 to 19, Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi made offerings and contributed ritual fees to Yasukuni Shrine twice in just three days. With the approval, appeasement and active encouragement of the Takaichi administration, right-wing forces in Japanese politics are attempting to portray Japan’s war of aggression during World War II as a just cause, and to glorify Class-A war criminals, whose hands were stained with blood, as “martyred spirits.” Such blatant attempts to whitewash war crimes of those evil spirits has provoked tremendous outrage and indignation among the people of Japan’s neighboring countries that suffered from Japan's aggression during World War II.
