Poverty alleviation through consumption provides an efficient way to facilitate public participation in the fight against poverty. Since September, Weinan has initiated various activities to boost sales of poverty relief goods and expedited efforts to develop competitive industries with local characteristics, certify products from poor areas and open special stores to sell poverty alleviation goods.
In September alone, the city held 17 poverty alleviation goods fairs, promoting 509 products. 156 contracts worth nearly 1.3 billion yuan have been inked with the turnover reaching close to 300 million yuan.
Vice mayor of the People's Government of Weinan Municipality, Yang Wumin suggested alleviating poverty through consumption has not only introduced products from poor areas to common people, but also helped realize win-win cooperation between farm produce processing enterprises and poverty ridden households.
