Wenzhou, Zhejiang: First 1500A Integrated Dynamic DC Energy Meter in China Successfully Commissioned

Recently, the State Grid Zhejiang Marketing Service Center, in collaboration with the China Electric Power Research Institute, successfully commissioned the first 1500A integrated dynamic DC energy meter in the demonstration project of the DC industrial distribution network in Pingyang, Wenzhou. This innovative achievement marks a significant leap in China's DC energy metering field, transitioning from static separate metering to dynamic integrated metering. Meanwhile, it also represents a technological breakthrough in the measurement range of DC from 300A to 1500A.

This energy meter features an integrated design architecture, incorporating advanced technologies such as a high-precision low-temperature drift manganese copper shunt and layered circuit design. It effectively addresses the severe heating issues associated with large DC measurements and the low accuracy of traditional separate metering methods. It has a voltage measurement range of up to 1500V and a current measurement range reaching 1500A, with an accuracy of Level-0.5, making it the widest measuring range and highest performance integrated DC energy meter currently available in China.

Additionally, the energy meter employs a scheme for separating the metering core and functional core. A waveform analysis function independently developed allows for flexible switching between full-wave metering and fundamental wave metering modes, fully meeting the requirements of national and enterprise standards. Testing and validation by the Zhejiang Institute of Quality Inspection and Technical Research confirmed that all indicators of this energy meter meet the standard requirements.

The Pingyang DC industrial distribution network demonstration project in Wenzhou is the first industrial distribution network in Zhejiang Province capable of directly supplying DC power to users, integrating a plating load of 1.25 megawatts. This project fully leverages the advantages of low power loss in DC supply, effectively reducing users' electricity costs and equipment procurement costs, while addressing the common challenge of a lack of accurate and reliable metering devices in DC stations. It lays a solid foundation for precise metering and the promotion of DC distribution networks.
