The 2025 Briefing on Practice Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace (Practice Cases) & WIC Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology (WIC Awards) debuted in Hong Kong on April 14, during the World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit.
The briefing attracted participants from government departments, domestic and international enterprises, academic institutions, think tanks and media outlets.
The WIC Secretariat outlined the overall arrangement of the Practice Cases and WIC Awards, including submission process, review criteria and awardees' benefits with examples.
To deepen the understanding of the two initiatives, China Unicom and IBM were invited to share their winning stories for Practice Cases, and UBTECH shared its WIC Awards experience.
Qiu Tao, Executive Vice-President & Chief Network Security Officer of China Unicom Global Limited, shared his understanding of two areas of Practice Cases--Innovative Development of the Digital Economy and Cybersecurity Maintenance, in line with the review criteria such as international cooperativeness and inclusive value.
Agnes Cui, Vice President of IBM Greater China Group, shared the multinational company’s full-process experience of application. Her speech covered project selection, submission material refinement, internal coordination and benefits gained as an Outstanding Case.
Michael Tam, Chief Branding Officer of UBTECH, focused on the technological breakthroughs and award-winning experience in the field of Embodied Intelligence. He highlighted his insights on the preparation of application materials and shared the publicity and commercial cooperation benefits achieved after winning the award.
The briefing concluded with a Q&A session, where the WIC Secretariat responded to questions raised by attendees.
A WIC representative emphasized that the two initiatives are not only the concentrated display of global digital innovation achievements, but also an important platform for promoting international cooperation in cyberspace. The WIC is delighted to see that the two initiatives have brought positive impacts to winners in multiple dimensions, including brand reputation, technological innovation and international cooperation.
The WIC representative also expressed the hope for more global practice cases and cutting-edge sci-tech achievements to be showcased at the WIC stage, jointly building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.
