"Safety lessons aren't just about listening and memorizing. We can also express our understanding of safety through drawing, making the learning process more memorable."Recently, State Grid Guyuan Power Supply Company launched a themed initiative titled "Cartooning Power Safety", encouraging employees to use comics and visual storytelling to convey safety concepts. This creative form of “Safety Open Class” offers a new way to spread awareness of safe practices in power operations.

In July, the campaign was rolled out across 12 core production departments and four county-level power supply subsidiaries. Its goal is to present key safety messages through approachable comic illustrations, using visual storytelling and “safety culture inspiration” to guide employees in following rules and raising their awareness.
The campaign received an enthusiastic response, collecting over 100 high-quality submissions. These comics, grounded in real-life frontline scenarios, focus on industry-specific topics such as working at heights, standardized on-site procedures, and electrical safety protocols. Each work reflects the creator's personal take on power safety.
The piece "Safety Net" was created by Zhang Xin from the Secondary Maintenance Center, who has two years of experience in secondary system work. It incorporates elements such as Safety Regulations, Special Work Permits, and accident case studies, highlighting the fundamental components of a safe workplace. Zhang hopes to use these everyday safety symbols to remind colleagues that safety rules are inviolable and that strict supervision is essential to a stable and secure grid.
"Safety Protects Us All" was created by Chang Jin from the Transmission Operation and Maintenance Center, a frontline worker with five years of experience. His comic features the Chinese character for “safety” as its central visual element, integrating lightning bolts and inspection scenes within the character’s structure. Below it, a family scene illustrates the joy and security that safety brings. Chang shared that safety is the cornerstone of happiness for power workers and their families, and his piece echoes the slogan “Everyone Speaks Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond”, calling on all to value and practice safety in their daily work.
More than 100 safety-themed illustrations have since been featured through State Grid Guyuan Power Supply Company’s cultural walls, bulletin boards, and online media platforms. Employees say that this edutainment approach reinforces safety awareness in a subtle and effective way, helping deepen understanding of safety protocols in a relaxed and engaging environment.(By Xue Xiaolong and Wang Xiujuan, State Grid Guyuan Power Supply Company)
