Recently, Ningbo's power grid has come under significant operational pressure due to the impact of typhoons.
At 6:30 a.m. on July 30, State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company upgraded its typhoon emergency response to Level II and entered full emergency preparedness mode. The company intensified inspections of low-lying substations, tower foundations in mountainous areas, greenhouses near transmission corridors, and tree obstacles along power lines. By 12:00 noon that day, inspections had been completed at 190 substations. Three lines of defense—preventing water intrusion, enhancing drainage, and enabling load transfer—were implemented at 1,435 underground and low-lying substations. A total of 1,810 trees were trimmed or removed, 51 guy wires were reinforced, and 183 key lines within 5 kilometers of the coastline underwent closed-loop inspections.
On the same day, water levels in Guanjiang Village, Yinzhou District, Ningbo, rose rapidly. After the risk of water intrusion to electrical equipment was detected, power crews were promptly dispatched to the scene. By 11:00 a.m., after the water had receded to a safe level, the team confirmed no safety hazards remained before leaving the site.
Meanwhile, in Yuyao City, where rainfall was most intense, State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company closely monitored conditions in the lower reaches of the Yaojiang River and the Siming Mountains. Additional personnel were urgently deployed to substations in Yushan, Jinchuan, Simen, and other key areas to provide on-site monitoring. With the support of video surveillance and 79 water level monitoring points, the company maintained real-time oversight of urban underground substations and proactively reinforced potential hazards.
State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company also strengthened power supply guarantees for emergency shelter sites across the city. A total of 2,124 government-designated shelters have been established. As of now, 51 shelters—mainly in Yuyao and Fenghua—have been activated, accommodating 1,442 residents, where power supply remains stable. At the same time, inspections of power lines serving key facilities such as farmers' markets, medical institutions, and drainage pumping stations have been completed, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for essential public services.
