State Grid Xuchang Upgrades Live-Line Equipment to Boost Distribution Line Automation

State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company recently completed the live-line replacement of a pole-mounted switch on Pole No. 19 of the 10kV Songzhuang Line. The operation, carried out under load, promptly eliminated potential safety hazards in the line equipment, further improving the operational efficiency and stability of the power system while reducing the risk of failure.

To meet the growing electricity demand and support the continued development of smart grids, enhancing the automation level of distribution lines and increasing the deployment of new intelligent switches have become key priorities. These measures are part of the company's broader efforts to optimize the grid structure.

Before the operation, State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company made thorough preparations. Technical specialists conducted multiple inspections to gain a comprehensive understanding of the line's routing, surrounding environment, and equipment condition. Comprehensive contingency plans were drawn up to address possible risks during the operation, ensuring that every team member was fully aware of their responsibilities and relevant safety protocols.

During the operation, the work area was carefully secured with warning barriers, insulation equipment was tested, and a comprehensive safety and technical briefing was conducted. Two technicians wearing full insulating suits were lifted to the work site by an insulated aerial truck. After several hours of meticulous work, the team successfully completed the task.
