On August 15, the event "Linking the World to Build a New Highland of Openness" was held in Airport New City, Xixian New Area. Three major milestones were unveiled: the launch of Xi'an–Chicago dual-hub reciprocal flights, the signing of a 5-billion-yuan project for China Eastern Airlines' Xi'an base, and the inauguration of representative offices for two foreign airlines' Xi'an bases.

The Xi'an–Chicago all-cargo flight route is Shaanxi Province's first direct cargo air route to the United States. Operated with Boeing 747 freighters (single-trip payload exceeding 100 tonnes), it is scheduled to operate 130 flights annually, transporting approximately 17,100 tonnes of cargo per year. This will boost Xi'an Airport's international air cargo throughput by more than 25%. Currently, Airport New City, in partnership with Western Airport Group, has launched 53 all-cargo routes.
The China Eastern Airlines Xi'an base project, spanning 843 mu (approximately 562,000 square meters) with a total investment of 5 billion yuan, includes a new maintenance zone (comprehensive repair base), ground service and logistics base, and catering base. Once completed, the project will enhance Xi'an's aviation maintenance and support capabilities while strengthening the aviation industry chain.

Following the inauguration of the Xi'an base representative offices of Georgian Airways and Camex Airlines, the two airlines have stationed four cargo aircraft at the base, operating six international cargo routes with over 15 weekly flights. This strengthens Xi'an's air network coverage to Central and Western Asia as well as Central and Eastern Europe, supporting trade and economic exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative. Concurrently, Xi'an Xianyang Airport Customs has introduced customs clearance facilitation policies.
Inauguration of Xi'an–Chicago dual-hub reciprocal flights
This event injects new momentum into Shaanxi Province's opening-up efforts. Airport New City will continue to improve the "Air Silk Road" and build a new highland of reform and opening-up in China's inland regions.
