Recently, the first battery swap demonstration project in Jiangsu, jointly constructed by CATL and State Grid Wuxi Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd., has officially been put into operation, marking the province’s first Chocolate Battery Swap Station.
According to reports, the Chocolate Battery Swap Station is a modular charging and swapping facility launched by CATL, occupying an area equivalent to just a standard shipping container. After driving into the station, the driver can simply perform a one-click operation via a mobile app, and the system will automatically replace the battery from beneath the vehicle.
The Chocolate Battery Swap is an efficient energy replenishment solution introduced by CATL for new energy fleet vehicles. The station is compatible with over 20 battery swap models currently available, including models from FAW Group and Changan. A single station is equipped with 14 to 30 battery slots, and the entire swapping process takes only 100 seconds. It can perform up to 822 battery swaps per day. The station has been integrated into the smart energy management platform of State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company’s vehicle-grid interactive charging and swapping station, enabling it to effectively participate in the grid’s intelligent regulation.
According to the construction plan, Wuxi will add five Chocolate Battery Swap Stations in September, bringing the total number to over 30 by the end of the year. A 10-minute battery swap service circle will be established in the core urban area, allowing vehicle owners to achieve a full battery swap in two minutes and depart freely.
