On October 15, at the N5463 tension field of the Zhejiang section of the Gansu-Zhejiang ±800kV UHVDC Transmission Line Project in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, staff from State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company were busy conducting wire erection operations. Meanwhile, multiple major projects—including the 500 kV Power Transmission Project of Sanmen Nuclear Power (Phase II) and the 500 kV Power Transmission Project of Tiantai Pumped Storage—were progressing intensively, marking the official start of the autumn construction peak for Zhejiang's power grid.

Gansu-Zhejiang ±800kV UHVDC Transmission Project is a key component of China's "West-to-East Power Transmission" strategy. The Zhejiang section spans 219.16 kilometers and involves the construction of 456 new transmission towers. So far, more than 70 towers have been completed, and the project has entered the full-scale construction phase of tower erection and wire installation.

The Sanmen Nuclear Power Project is China's first independently developed third-generation nuclear power project and the second nuclear power plant in Zhejiang. The project is currently undergoing final acceptance procedures and is expected to be completed and put into operation in early November.

The 500 kV Transmission Project for the Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station is a supporting transmission project for the Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station, a key project under China's 14th Five-Year Plan. It plays an important role in optimizing Zhejiang's power grid structure and enhancing its capacity to accommodate clean energy.

The year 2025 marks both the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and one of the busiest construction years for Zhejiang's power grid in recent times. In the second half of this year, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power plans to invest 9.635 billion yuan in major grid construction. The company will launch 58 transmission and substation projects—including the Lishui Yongfeng Transmission and Transformation Project and the Jiaxing Power Plant Phase IV Expansion Project—and put 34 into operation, such as the Ruian 500 kV Power Transmission and Substation Project and the Sanmen Nuclear Power Phase II Transmission Project. These projects encompass 877 kilometers of transmission lines and add a total transformer capacity of 3.33 million kVA, laying a solid foundation for ensuring reliable power supply during the winter peak and successfully completing the grid construction goals set in the 14th Five-Year Plan. In addition to major power transmission projects involving UHV, pumped storage, nuclear, and gas-fired power, ensuring the timely grid connection of new energy sources remains a key focus. State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power continues to accelerate the construction of new energy transmission projects to ensure that renewable energy is effectively developed, transmitted, and fully utilized. (By Fang Zheng)
