  For over a decade, driven by the Belt and Road Initiative, many Chinese central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have ventured abroad, serving as the main force in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative with the objectives of high standards, sustainability, and better lives. In 2024, CRI Online continues to carry out the “Central SOEs Chasing Dreams Under the Belt and Road Initiative” online thematic publicity campaign, focusing on key overseas projects of the Belt and Road Initiative. Through short videos, online photography exhibitions, and other forms, CRI Online showcases the achievements, stories of individuals, and prospects of the Belt and Road international cooperation.

  Starting from April 2024, the “Witness the New Glory of the Silk Road” Global Open Call for Photography and Online Exhibition officially begins. This event aims to collect photography works from participants all around the globe. It is planned to select 100 outstanding works for online exhibition, telling the story of the fruits, the demeanor of contributors at home and abroad, and touching stories of the Belt and Road Initiative over the past decade through vivid images.

  I. Event Details

  (1) Event Name: “Witness the New Glory of the Silk Road” Global Open Call for Photography

  (2) Event Purpose: Using the lens to reflect the fruits of the Belt and Road Initiative, showcasing the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit. The event aims to highlight the new changes and new atmosphere brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative, friendly exchanges, cultural exchanges, and sincere friendships between Chinese contributors and people of countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as showcasing the customs of relevant countries.

  (3) Event Format: Photography works will be collected via social media platforms at home and abroad, overseas media partners, and the multilingual website of CRI Online. A feature column will be set up on the website homepage of CRI Online, and interactive topics such as “# WitnesstheNewGloryoftheSilkRoad” will be launched on Weibo, Toutiao, Douyin, Kuaishou, and other third-party platforms. At the same time, specific hashtags will also be set up on overseas social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter (now X), and Instagram to engage global netizens. Outstanding works will be presented in bilingual (Chinese & English) posters for further publicity.

  (2) Requirements

  1.Works should focus on themes such as the fruits, work scenes, friendly exchanges and integration of the Belt and Road Initiative and local customs, and natural landscapes of participating countries.

  2.Works must be original digital works, and there are no restrictions on camera or mobile phone shooting. It can be materials from the past or the latest original works.

  3.Submitted works can be a single photo or photo sets, in color or black and white, with no limit on aspect ratio. The number of photos in a set should be a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10. Digital photos should be provided in JPEG format, with a resolution of no less than 1920*1080 (landscape) or 1080*1920 (portrait).

  4.The nationality of the contributor is not limited. When submitting works, please provide your name, nationality, contact, and attach a photo caption, shooting location, and a brief introduction to the photo story (within 150 words).

  5.This collection event does not charge any fees to contributors.

  6.Submitted works can be appropriately post-processed using software without altering the original appearance of the works, but no pixel additions, deletions, or movements that affect the authenticity or accuracy of the original image are allowed.

  7.Once a submission is found to be plagiarized or infringe on the legitimate rights of third parties, the contributor will be disqualified and will bear the losses caused to the organizer. In serious cases, corresponding legal responsibilities will be pursued.

  8.This collection event does not return submissions. After submitting the works, it is deemed to authorize the organizer to use the works free of charge or authorize third parties to use the works; the organizer has the right to use the works for exhibitions, publicity, publications, and other purposes.

  III. Exhibition

  After preliminary screening, website display, voting, and expert final review, 100 works will be selected for online display. After this collection and exhibition, 20 works can best represent the spirits of the Belt and Road Initiative will be selected to be made into a series of posters for further publicity.

  (2) Selection Stage: May 29 to June 10, 2024 (BJT)

  (3) Exhibition and Promotion Stage: June 11 to June 30, 2024 (BJT)
